Eligibility of Admission to B.P.ED.


This is in pursuance of the adoption of the recommendations of justice Verma Commission on Teacher Education by the university as per Final Plan of Action approved by the Hon’ble Supreme court of India, it is notified for the information of all candidates who have applied or are desirous to apply for admission to B.Ed/B.P.Ed and M.Ed programmes through university Departments or Govt./Private colleges, that the duration of the aforementioned courses from the current academic session (2015-2016) shall be of two years.

    a) A candidate should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized University.
    b) The candidate applying for direct/In-service quota seats shall be below 33 years and 53 years of age as on Ist January of the ensuing session respectively.
    c) The candidate must have participated at Inter-District/Inter—College or State Level Games and Sports or having N.C.C “B” Certificate.
    d)The candidate must be a permanent resident of J&K State.

The admission shall be made strictly on the basis of merit, obtained by the candidate in the following-

Qualifying examination 30 Marks
Sports Achievement 30 Marks
Physical Efficiency Test. 30 Marks
Viva Voce. 10 Marks

Qualifying Examination: 30 Marks

The weightage of qualifying examination shall be calculated on pro-rate basis with reference to percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in graduation.

Sports Achievement: 30 Marks

The marks shall be awarded on the basis of highest achievement in sport or game. Only such games or sports which are recognized by Ministry of Sports and Human Resource Department (HRD) Government of India/Indian Olympic Association SGFI/J&K Sports Council /J&K Olympic Association shall be considered for evaluation.

International level particpation 12 Marks
Medal at sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and School Nationa1/ Inter University Level 08 Marks
Particpation at Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and School National/Inter University Level. 07 Marks
Inter College/Inter-District/State Level Participation. 03 Marks

Physical Efficiency Test: 30 Marks

The marks shall be awarded on the basis of skill performance in physical efficiency test consists of 4 items (Battery) carrying 0 5 Marks each (Separately for boys and girls):—

Girls

VIVAVOCE: 10 Marks

Viva-Voce shall be conducted to check the knowledge of students and their aptitude towards Games/profession.

Break-up of available seats:

    Intake Seats : 70
    a) Direct Seats : 55.
    b) In-Service Seats : 15

NOTE:

    i)Reservation to various categories as per existing rules and orders shall be applicable.
    ii) The qualified candidates will be placed in order of merit in different categories.
    iii) In-Service seats are reserved for the graduate PET employees drawn from their parent department (Youth Services & Sports, J&K Govt.) on the basis of seniority having minimum 5 years of service.
    iv) In-Service candidates shall be exempted from the Physical Efficiency Test.
    v) Only such In-Service candidates shall be granted admissions who are deputed by their parent Deptt. (YSS) on or before the declaration of the selection list of direct candidates, in accordance with University instructions.

    vi) One seat over and above shall be filled up on the basis of nomination by the Higher Authorities provided a candidate must full fill the basic eligibility criteria.

    vii) Unfilled seats among the In-service and category candidates shall be filled in the order of merit from amongst the direct candidates.
